Dr. Seuss Week

Sara and I have been preparing for Dr. Seuss week. Next week everyday in my classroom we will be learning all about Dr. Seuss and reading many of his books. I had to share a picture of our bulletin board. We worked so hard on it, although I have to give Sara credit for doing the most work. She is so wonderful, I don't know what I would do without her!!!!

The Economy

The economy is so bad that my own children feel the need to sleep with their ATM machine banks. They fell asleep the other night on Lauren's floor. I am so glad they are such good friends.

Sick Day

Today I get to spend my day taking care of Alex. He is home from school today due to a sickness I can't quite figure out yet. At 4:00am he had fainted in bed and woke up to gagging on his own spit and then proceeded to throw up mucus. Grossed out now? I then took him into our spare bed and tried to go back to sleep, however moaning and episodes of "I think I am going to throw up", kept me up. He has only had one more episode so I hope we are on the road to recovery. I am enjoying staying home with my little man. We have watched non-stop cartoons while I cut and staple things for school. I will say he is on his way to becoming a true "sick man" because he is moaning for no reason, unable to get anything himself, and he has the whiny voice part down pat.

Busy week

It has been a busy week around the Murillo house. We have been busy with a long school day and then our nights are filled with school projects and basketball practice. On Tuesday we celebrated our 100th day of school. I just love that day. It is so fun seeing my kindergartners do all the fun activities. It truly is kindergarten work that day. On Friday we had our Valentine's Day party. Lauren and Alex were not happy with me that I scheduled their dentist appt. on this day after school. They thought they couldn't eat any candy in fear of suddenly getting a cavity. In the end, they both had a clean bill of health. :)

Amongst this busy week Lauren decided to be Vanilla Ice. On Thursday night I found her in her room dressed as a rapper and her arms were covered in marker. She designed her own tattoos all over her arms. Of course, I freaked and sent her to the shower. While waiting for the water to warm up she decided to clean herself up in my sink, then drip "marker water" on the floor as she got in the shower. Those of you who know Lauren understand this is so typical of her to use her imagination to the full extent. And those of you who know my anal cleaning lifestyle can understand how this really freaked me out.

Here's to hoping next week is less eventful.

Jackie's Birthday

Last week we celebrated Jackie's 40th birthday! We had such a good time at Hickory Tavern. Thank you Scott!

Happy Birthday Alex

On January 28th Alex celebrated his 7th birthday! Time is going so fast. I can't believe my baby is all grown up. We had a dinner of McDonalds and sundae cones on his actual birthday. Then on Saturday we went to Kate's Skating Rink in Rock Hill. We had such a good time. Many of the kids were nervous at first to skate, but by the end of the party everyone had gotten over their fears and had a good time. Alex and I had such a good time skating together. He couldn't believe his mom could skate backwards. The running joke at the party was, whether it was Alex's or Darnell's party. It is sad, that I played the games like Hokey Pokey, red light green light, and the birthday boy didn't. Alex's favorite gift was from Jodi, she got him the movie Napoleon Dynamite. My family has been quoting this movie for the past 2 months. It is their favorite. If you have seen the movie, you might be asking why? If you haven't seen the movie, save it for a Saturday when you are bored and then you can ask, why? If anyone wants to go skating, let us know, I will go even if the kids are busy :)
