Thanksgiving Happenings

Lots of stuff has been happening around the turkey day. Last week Alex had a school musical called E-I-E-I Oops. It was about the cow who lost its moo. Then in my classroom my class did a Thanksgiving play for the parents. One of my room parents made me a Pilgrim costume to wear for the event. I received many laughs followed by, oh you look good, love that french maid costume... Gotta love your co-workers. We had Thanksgiving at Jan and Jack's house. Lots of good food and company.

Over the break we are watching the lizards from the science room at school. We are all a little nervous about them escaping. The kids keep putting books on top of the cage just in case the lizards can somehow push the top off. :)

Last night we surprised the kids and took them to a Bobcats game since they were playing the Cavs. They were so excited. We took the train and ate dinner downtown before the game. I even bought them a jersey during my black Friday shopping so they were on cloud 9. Unfortunately the Cavs lost.

Today, Lauren and Alex went out to play football. As usual, Lauren had to dress the part for what she was playing. Alex seems to understand her ritual of dressing for the part when they decide to play something. He waited patiently downstairs for her, and when she arrived he said, "You look good!" I hope someday her ritual of dressing for the part will pass on over to "how to dress like a girl."

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family. Last night I started making a list in my head about all the things I am thankful for. Here it goes.

1. My husband. He loves me no matter what crazy or silly thing I do. He has built and improved many things around our house to make it more enjoyable. I am amazed at all the skills he has. I love you!

2. My children. I am so thankful for Lauren and Alex in my life. They make me laugh everyday with their silly antics.

3. The microwave. I am so thankful for my microwave. Many, many, many meals are made for my family in the microwave.

4. My job. Although it keeps me very busy, I am so thankful I am able to do what I love. I have so much fun at work with my class and co-workers.

5. My health. So far heading into my 40's, I have a pretty healthy body. Sure I could use some more muscle tone, but the only thing I have ever had wrong with me was having my gall bladder removed. I guess this goes to show everyone that not eating fruits and vegetables isn't harming me. I have started to eat at least 4 bananas a month and maybe 1 apple. I am slowly working my way into the fruit food group.

6. My friends. Thanking you so much for listening to me when I am stressed out. Thank you so much for dancing with me, even if I do dance like a white girl.

7. My family. Although my family lives far away, I think of you often. I just wish I had more time to write more emails or letters. Thanks for all you do for me throughout the year.

8. Coffee and chocolate. These are two foods that I have absolutely everyday. They help wake me up and keep me calm all at the same time. Amazing.

May everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

House for Sale

We have decided to put our house up for sale. A bigger kitchen and better schools are the main reason. I have spent the last 2 months cleaning our closets, drawers, and taking many many many trips to Goodwill. Finally our house is decluttered and boy does it feel good. It takes me no time at all to clean the house now. We had a stager lady come over and tell us how to decorate the house to make it sell. Now we have begun accomplishing things on her list. We did the easy stuff by adding new mirrors, light fixtures, etc. Now, today we have begun the next project....installing Pergo in our kitchen, dining room, and foyer. It is going to be a job. We are hoping to get a good chunk of it done this weekend. David has started in the kitchen tonight. I guess the good thing about this is maybe I get out of cooking for a few nights! :) So far it looks beautiful. I will take pics soon.

Another thing that has been happening around here is the end of baseball and softball season. Alex's team did a great job this season. They only lost 2 games. Lauren's softball team did well also. Last weekend, the travel team she is also on, had a tournament. They won the whole thing! Lauren played really well and had such a good time playing with this team.

As for the winter season of basketball, we made a family decision and decided not to play. We have been running ragged for the last few years and we need a season off. The kids will still attend a baseball/softball clinic once a week, but it will seem like nothing. Here's to finally being able to sit on my couch!!!!

Halloween Fun

This year we went trick or treating with our friends, Luke, Ryan, and Sam. Well, actually, the dads took the kids around and Jackie and I had a beer and passed out candy at my house. Due to the downpours, I think I passed out more beer than candy :)

Anyway, the kids had a great time. Lauren was a vampire this year and Alex was some clone trooper from Star Wars. Sam had a great costume he made himself which was a Wii remote, and Ryan was the lead singer from KISS whose name escapes me now. Luke was a rock and roll star.

Safety Patrol

I know it has been forever since my last post. So much has been going on lately. Hopefully my next few posts will fill you in on the happenings around here and why I have no time to post.

This fall, Lauren was selected to be on the school's safety patrol team. She is so excited to wear the belt everyday. Her job is to put up the flag every morning and car duty. She loves checking out all the cars. She knows exactly what car she wants when she is 16. A mustang!
