Vocabulary Parade

At the end of the year, first grade always does a vocabulary parade. The kids pick a word and dress up like that word. I chose the word "Tidy" I decided to use David's guitar box and make a vacuum. I thought it turned out well. I love my job!!!!

Baseball and Softball

Here are a few pictures of the Alex in his last tournament. It keeps us busy, but we love it so much. I know people think we are crazy for all the time we spend on the ballfields but it is so much fun when we are there. Sorry no pictures of Lauren, I am always with Alex while she is playing her games. Hope to get a few of her soon. w

Where Has the Time Gone??

I know it has been forever since I blogged. My children stay so busy with sports that I have a hard time finding a free evening. Let me catch you up as to what has been happening. The school year ended and Lauren reached the milestone of ending her time at an elementary school. It will be weird not having her in the car with us in the morning. But, she is looking forward to riding the bus every morning. The outfit she wore took us 6 hours of shopping to find. She is still such a tomboy. Every other girl would be able to walk in a store and pick out a sundress. She finally settled on capris and a plain shirt. It was such a painful shopping trip we have yet to shop together since.

Easter

We went to church and then had a nice lunch at Fatz Cafe. The kids are spending the afternoon playing with Luke on the slip n slide, David's doing yard work, and I am watching the turtle and cleaning. Hard to believe our break is over and it is back to the daily grind tomorrow.

Happy Easter

It has been forever since I have blogged, but life and work have been hectic these past few months. At the end of February I suffered from a herniated disc which as of today I am still recovering from. Almost completely healed, just need to watch what I lift and do. Work has been endless, and the kids have kept me busy with baseball and softball. This week was spring break and we stayed around the house and played outside with the neighborhood kids. We did color eggs on Monday. It might be the last time for this tradition since they were not that into it at all.

Happy Birthday Alex

Alex's ninth birthday was on Jan. 28th. You can go ahead and give me the Worse Mom of Year Award for this birthday. Alex decided he didn't want to have a party, but instead go bowling with our friends, Luke, Kevin, and Lori. With David out of town the week of his birthday and me working like crazy, the poor boy had no presents to open on his official day. He did have school and a basektball game that night, so that kept us busy that day. So on Saturday I went and purchased him the Guitar Hero game for the Wii, batting gloves, and a hamper that the boy has wanted for a year! The plan on Sunday was to go bowling and come back to our house for pizza and cake. Well, apparently public bowling does not mean the same thing as open bowling because when we got there at 2:30, the lady told us "open bowling" does not begin until 5:30. So we drove all the way to Rock Hill for nothing. Thank goodness it was a beautiful 70 degree day, so the kids and I enjoyed playing basketball and riding our bikes. We then ended the evening with pizza and cake. However, if you look closely at the cake, you will see that Alex's name is in purple frosting. Since I was the bad mom and didn't order one ahead of time, I had to go with the only color frosting the bakery department had on hand at the time. Alex is such a mellow kid he didn't care, but Lauren had a fit.
We have recovered from the poorly planned birthday and enjoy playing and singing to guitar hero nightly. I guess I better get started planning Lauren's birthday tomorrow

Snow Day

On January 8-9 we had fun staying home from school to enjoy the snow. Unfortunately everything turned to ice after a day. The snow stuck around for a week. It was fun while it lasted.
