Family Day

Today we took a trip to Hickory, NC to look for a new couch and a wine cabinet. At first the kids were not too excited, but as the hunt went on they enjoyed trying out the 50 plus couches we must have sat in today. We took a break at a mexican place called Max. It was so good. Then it was off for more shopping. The kids couldn't believe all the furniture stores and were very impressed when we saw a triple bunk bed. We finally decided on a sofa and loveseat combo in a tan color which happened to be at the first place we started the hunt at. As some of you know I have been looking for a couch for a month now, so I am so happy the hunt is over. On the way home we ate downtown at Pike's. It is known in my family I hardly ever eat ice cream and tonight at dinner this led to a party foul. I ordered the kids drinks and then got the look of despair from David after the waiter left. He thought we were going to order milkshakes because apparantly that is why you go eat at Pike's to begin with. It was too late to try and catch the waiter to change our order so I had to deal with the " I can't believe we didn't order a milkshake" the entire dinner. The kids got ice cream with their meal so David will enjoy his mint chocolate chip ice cream milkshake after the kids go to bed. It was such a fun family day, a great way to start our 2009.
